Traditional Wedding

Testimonial from
Simon and Sally

" Dear Trevor,
Thank you for doing such a wonderful job as our celebrant for our wedding. You enabled it to be just how we wanted it and appreciate your efforts.
Love from
Simon and Sally "

Contact me to organise a visit with you to discuss your requirements. With the exception of the Certificate of Marriage I offer a full range of certificates to mark that occasion.

Traditional Weddings
As a marriage celebrant I will guide you through the legalities of the marriage process. I will work with you to create a ceremony that celebrates you taking your relationship to the next level, that of a legal and lasting commitment. This is a time to be shared with friends and family which gives worth and recognition to the beauty of your relationship and the hope of happiness in the years to come.

See below for the Wedding Process.

Commitment Ceremonies
As a civil celebrant I will work with you to design a ceremony that will take your relationship to the next level by you making a public commitment of your love. If you don't want the legal formalities, or are a same-sex couple and can't be legally married, then a commitment ceremony is for you. Irrespective of legalities, love needs to be celebrated and I will work with you to develop a meaningful ceremony that celebrates your strong commitment and love for each other.

Renewal of vows
A time may come in your relationship where you may feel that you wish to remake your vows. I will work with you to help you celebrate this occasion by assisting you either to write new vows to reflect your current relationship or to repeat your original vows.

Weddings - The Process
After an initial discussion and you have secured your marriage booking I will meet with you to explain and help you to complete necessary legal paperwork. We will also discuss your ideas for the ceremony. These discussions may include ideas for wedding locations and contingencies for rainy days if you have selected an outdoor site.

After our meeting I will leave you with a selection of ceremonies and readings which you may wish to choose. I will contact you later to determine what you have selected or prepared. I will then provide a draft of the ceremony for your approval. A bound copy of the ceremony will be provided to you on your special day.

When we meet, I'll help you with ideas and sample ceremonies and provid you with my presentation folder containing details about:
  • locations for wedding ceremonies
  • details of suitable websites
  • the structure of a wedding ceremony
  • resource books on wedding ceremonies
  • extracts from wedding ceremonies
  • a sample ceremony
  • selected readings and poems
  • material on relationship education including a copy of the brochure Happily Ever Before and After
  • a copy of the Notice of Intention to Marry
  • a booking sheet
  • an invoice

Like any ceremony the wedding has a distinct order of how things should be presented and is structured as listed below:

  • The introduction
  • A reading by a significant person or celebrant
  • Celebrant authority (Monitum)
  • Presentation of bride/groom (giving away)
  • The asking
  • The vows
  • The ring ceremony
  • Another reading
  • The declaration of marriage
  • The kiss
  • Signing the register
  • Congratulating the bride and groom and presentation of wedding certificate
